These simple and easy steps of banana cake can be done by everyone at home. It will be more fun and enjoyable if you could ask a family member to help you out preparing this delicious and simple recipe.
What is the difference between banana cake and banana bread? They look almost the same. But no matter what you call it is still delicious to eat. Isn’t it?
Cake flour is better for cake recipes, so if you want to make it soft, pliable and moist reach for cake flour. Cake flour is so delicate and low in protein content. Whilst All purpose flour has a lit bit higher protein content but still it performs very well.
I prefer less sweet so I only use ½ cup of sugar to this recipe. But If you want something sweeter you can add more. Overripe bananas make the best for banana cake or bread.
How do you know when the bread or cakes you are baking are done inside?
I use a toothpick and insert in the center of the cake or bread, if it comes out with a few crumbs clinging to it or if there is uncooked batter or damp crumbs on the toothpick put the cake or bread back to the oven again. Bake for a few minutes. When the cake or bread is done, the edges will begin to pull away from the side of the pan. Use your own judgement for best results
Preparation time is 15 to 20 minutes
Without further ado let’s get started
1 ½ cup of cake flour or all purpose flour
½ cup of brown sugar
1 large egg
½ butter softened
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of vanilla or banana extract
2 medium size bananas
Preheat the oven to 170 to 175 degrees celsius.
In a large bowl combine all the dry ingredients such as flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder. Whisk well and set aside.
In another bowl, or mixer, combined softened butter and the sugar until well incorporated.
Add the mashed bananas. Egg and vanilla extract. Then mix all together.
Gradually add the mixed dry ingredients by sifting until a batter is formed.
Grease your prefered loaf pan or you can use baking sheet on it, then pour into the mixture
In a preheated oven bake it for 45 to 50 minutes. You can check it by using a toothpick test.
Remove the loaf pan from the oven.
Let it cool for a few minutes.
